It’s just another day in the seemingly never ending demise of Aston Villa, by where the fans and footballing community were treated to yet another embarrassing piece of unwanted news that is the finances of Aston Villa. Fans of football don’t really have the time to learn the finer details of business finance, so we read articles and watch players driving flash cars and living in £3m houses and then we form our own opinions. Now we’re being told that there are directors at our football club who are on something like £1.2m a year, five times more than the last bunch of amateurs who were in the board room before, and for what?
All the time, the normal every day Villa fan is having to watch all this happen, we’re watching people from the board room through to the players on the pitch milk Aston Villa dry! The fans can only dream of financial riches on that level, we feel like we’re having it rubbed in our faces, we work very hard for our wages and salaries to give these players and people in the board room a cushy life, and what do we get in return? NOTHING!!!
I tell a lie, we do and did actually get something, we got five years of fighting relegation, five years of mismanagement, five years of substandard managers and football players, and we get even more!!! We’re going to get relegation, and according to some, we could even get administration if we don’t watch ourselves, scary hey? And all the time this is going on, I personally can’t stop thinking that plenty of people at Aston Villa who are making lots of money out of an ailing institution, and it makes me sick!!!
Of course, people wouldn’t question the money situation of Villa, if, we looked like a club that could manage its affairs, looked like a squad that could challenge for Europe once in a while, or even looked like a team that could gain some mid table mediocrity, which just goes to show just how low our expectations have fallen over the last few years for crying out loud!!! Oh it’s a mess!!! And all the time people are making a lot of money without any effort it seems!
There are people out there who can explain the financial situation of our football club better than most of you and I. All my latest exasperations on Aston Villa have been formed through talking to fellow Villans and things I see and read with my own eyes. I guess sometimes in life we don’t need to be told like it is, we can just see it, or, sense it even.
What I see is a lot of people making a lot of money out of my club, tarnishing the name of Aston Villa whilst lining their greedy pockets, I can’t tell you how sick that makes me feel!!! I know there is a lot of fans out there who are struggling to make ends meet, but they somehow find their little bit of money and go and watch their side. But they might as well stick their two fingers up to us, all of them, because they don’t care, and when they all walk away, it will be them richer, but it will always be us left to pick up the pieces, the lowest of the low in their eyes, the fans! Randy Lerner couldn’t run a bath let alone a football club, he has destroyed Aston Villa he is incompetent and negligent and the club is suffering because of him. It makes no difference who is on the board because they will be puppet directors with Lerner pulling their strings. No matter what changes he makes fans should continue to target him and drive him out of the club. Only when Lerner has gone can we start the long road back to where Villa should be.
