Tic Tac, Toe!!! Aston Villa vs Liverpool WBA & Everton?

Tic-tac-toe gameTic

We went to Liverpool and put in a spirited performance. 2-0 up at one point in the match, Liverpool got back into the match, which ended 2-2. A very credible draw and a much improved performance gave Villa a sling shot into the match against WBA.

Aston Villa vs Westbromwich Albion ended with a 4-3 win for the home side. You could be forgiven for thinking that Villa were going to be on the end of a lose as WBA scored two goals in the first nine minutes. Chis Brunt opened the scoring with an magnificent strike to make it 0-1, Guzan didn’t have a chance of saving that effort. Then the Carrier Bags got a second courtesy of a Fabian Delph own goal.

Villa’s first came on 12th minute when Weimann was played on side by the baggy defender, he lobbed the goalie to score and Villa Park erupted. Then Bacuna levelled the score, he luckily miss hit, bobbled up of his arm into the opposition goal, wow!!! Then step forward Fabian Delph, Delph latched onto a perfectly placed headed layoff by Benteke, he turned the unfortunate defender inside out and lashed home a ferocious shot that beat the goalie on his near post to make 3-2, My God, Villa Park went absolutely crazy. Then WBA equalised with some poor defending. It looked to me from where I was sitting that Vlaar and Clark tried to close down Mulumbu only for the two defenders to collide into each other, fall over leaving a pathway for the Striker to drive through and slot it past Guzan, 3-3.

Then Benteke won a penalty for the home side. Diego Lugano decide to haul Benteke to the floor when the cross came in from the right. There wasn’t any complaints from his team mates, which suggest the ref made a right decision. Benteke stepped forward to take his penalty, believe me there were grown men who couldn’t bare to look. Well wouldn’t you know it he scored the winner and that was that.

My little criticism of the match was when we had about 15 minutes to go, the Villa players seemed to back off, maybe it was due to the subs we made, which shows the weakness of the squad. But all in all, to come from two goals down and win should gives us a lot of confidence for Saturdays match against Everton. Well Done Lads!!!

Could we make it three results in a row? Well I don’t see why not! Everton were on the end of huge hiding by their local rivals Liverpool and they looked absoluteness shellshocked at the end of the match. Where as us, The Mighty Villa are unbeaten in our last two matches. I don’t see why we can’t go up to Goodison Park and get a draw or even a win. Even if we go down to an early goal, I can see us getting back into the match.

Something has just seemed to click all of a sudden for the young Villa Lions and you would be hard to guess why and how, the two new loanees maybe, Paul Lambert’s coaching and change of tactics, who knows. So my prediction is a draw at the minimum, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we won. Come On You Lions!!! UTV

  1. If we can keep the spirit within the team like they have done in the last 2 an half games then i can’t see us not picking up at least a point but on the other hand with the players the toffees have got out can’t see why we can’t go up there & win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
