To Boo, Or Not To Boo

too booTo Boo, or not to boo, that is the question. For me, there isn’t any circumstance where I could find myself booing the Villa players. What’s the point of booing the Villa players at the end of a half, if they’ve been dreadful; do you think it will improve their performance in the second? We pay our money, so we’ve got a right to boo the players when we’ve been served up rubbish for the last 3 years? I get frustrated with the players too when things have been going wrong, and to let out a moan and a groan in the course of a match, is only human nature, but to boo, it just doesn’t sit right with me.

What I can’t understand with the Villa fans is, a huge majority booed the players at the end of the match today, but Lambert and Lerner get off extremely lightly at Villa Park. I must have it wrong, most of the Villa fans must still back Lambert and Lerner, when it’s them who should be taking the bulk of our displeasure for our last few seasons of woe. When the players hear boo’s any time during or at the end of a match, it says to them, that we’re not with them, doesn’t it?

I don’t like this new phenomenon of booing when things aren’t going the way we want them too, maybe it’s been going on longer than I think, but I don’t remember booing in the 70’s, 80’s and the early 90’s when we couldn’t get our own way. It’s easy to support your club when things are rosy in the garden, but it’s a lot harder when things aren’t. I’m not telling how you should support your football club, it’s up to you, but I don’t want any part of the booing. If I hear booing and I feel like it, then I will voice my displeasure via social media about it and if you don’t like it, then tough, I have to put up with your flipping booing. UTV

  1. Like you I do not partake of the booing, but for most its the best or only way to register their discontent. I will be watching the activities of the club during the coming transfer window. Their is no doubt that the current group of players offer little hope of improving to a level where we might be proud of them. The team is woefully short of… Well you all know what I mean. A chap behind me today said “there’s nobody capable of providing the killer final ball” ,but who would that player send that ball to? there is no-one making any runs forward and if they did none of the current crop, Benteke included are capable of scoring. We desperately need some wingers who can get in behind the defence and cross a good ball/pass or even score. Young at Man utd (formally of this parish) springs to mind. I am afraid young Grealish does not impress hes a bit like Bambi on ice. He may come good but I can’t see it at the moment,

  2. I don’t mind booing players, otherwise Lamberk would just tell them they were brilliant and they would believe the twat

Lamberk out so go started in the Holte today thankfully. Sunday might finish him off

    • You aint a Villa fan mate, once you light a fire it’s difficult to put it out. It’s you who are messing up this club. All this negative moaning destroying the atmosphere. Players should be encouraged. You dont get this with cricket only TRIBAL football. Sign of the times….who would BUY the Villa with rubish fans like some of you booing idiots

  3. It’s twats like you that discourages fans having a say in OUR CLUB . We are Aston villa not those knob heads that bank sky revenue or the so called players that are milking it .

  4. cant see how you dont think grealish is poor,, the set up today was poor

lambert is clueless on how to play massed defences,,

you need width and movement,, and you dont even have to slice through defences
benteke is a force in the air,, do you think he is happy with the side to side passy passy for large parts of the game,,, and the effort spent by the forwards running
away from goal to create space only to see the ball go back to vlaar or sanchez

no wonder the forwards cant score, the ball is never in the box

    just pathetic

  5. I don’t mind booing but now we are at a point where certain sections of the villa park crowd are just waiting to boo. They cannot wait to get on the players backs. The atmosphere at Villa Park is largely negative and it will be that, not the standard of the football that stops me going to the games. I think it’s time villa fans looked in the mirror. Where does this sense of entitlement come from? People boo when the football is direct and now these same people are booing because we are trying to pass the ball.

Nothing is good enough is it? Yes we are passing the ball but it isn’t up to Real Madrid standard so lets all boo. Pathetic.

    • What you don’t get is the passing is side to side and backwards. It’s quantity passing not quality. Players like Cleverley srnt good enough it’s just like is to bail Utd out and give them £7m. Knowing Lerner he probably got a reference of SAF of how good he is. The players deserve to be booed they are pure rubbish but so does Lamberk and Lerner. It’s time the fans hounded out Lamberk like they did with Mcleish who was no worse and probably slightly better than Lamberk.

  6. No movement up front.(apart from two headless and clueless chickens in Weiman and Agbonlahor)
No midfielders capable of running past the ball and no idea where the next goal is coming from. We need a buyer urgently who will invest heavily from top to btm. No need for boos as I’m sure the players and manager are well aware of our discontent through social media etc.

  7. If Booing just got us somewhere….

Regardless of the results We Are The VILLA! Great clubs have great support and booing your teams players is NOT support.. if we are crap booing wont change our results.. making the players feel we are behind them does.

  8. The fans who defend this rubbish are partly responsible for it, silence is consent, Lambert is going nowhere, the chairmen is clueless, unless change is forthcoming we will be in the championship !
Fans should rally to get these muppets out of our great club, if that means booing and even boycotting games, then so be it !

  9. Firstly, I’ve never booed Villa either.

However, back in the 1960s, the booing was there then… And when Villa fans boo then you know there’s something really wrong. There was then (in the later 1960s) to the extent that a revolution occurred.

Today’s situation is very similar to then.

  10. I’ll boo the players at any opportunity I get if they’re playing shit. How else I’m i to show that I’m not pleased with there shit performances, I cheers when they score a goal and they except the praise like they’re the best players in the world, so they’re going to have to take the flack when it comes, poor little shit footballers can’t take a bit of stick.

  11. The football is dire and has been for 4 years, Lerner has no clue and neither does Lambert. He has a new 4 year contract so is he going anywhere soon? unlikely.

What professional club allows its 2 arguably best players get into the last year of there contract?

Lets be honest, unless we get a new owner things are not going to change any time soon and that is bringing the club to its knees.

If people want to boo let them boo, it’s born out of pure frustration and allows us supporters to vent our feelings directly at the players and the manager.

I never like to leave a game before the end as in the good old days when we scored goals I missed a few by leaving early.

I must admit though that I left early a couple of times last season when we were down and out with 10 mins left but got a laugh from those around me when I was asked by friends if we should leave 1 game early to which I replied NO I’m staying for the booing.

Booing your team isn’t great but when you have been watching the rubbish we have for the last 4 years I wouldn’t knock anyone for it.

  12. Attended my first game in 1963 and have seen great times and plenty of terrible times.
I have never left before the final whistle and never ever booed. There are of ways to show dissent but
Booing Your Team on the pitch should not one of them. It just shows a lack of class.
Those trying to lead the booing should stay at home and never again sing “Villa Till I Die”.

  13. you have to show your frustrations and support the team

i dont like booing but it is necessary, if only to make the manager take stock

    makes things uncomfortable for him,,,

and the last performance was worthy of booing, if not for the same old tactics that just do not work and will never work with these players against a deep lying defence,,,
so change the formation,,,, and try things out,,
