Time To Ditch Delph

Delph Must Go 100I hope Delph goes in the transfer window in January. If it’s possible to tell through a player’s body language and the way he plays, then Delph is saying to me, he doesn’t want to be at the Villa. His last 2 performances for Villa have been awful for me. I thought Delph was our worst player against Sunderland on Sunday, and with players like N’Zogbia and Weimann not setting the footballing world alight, then that’s saying something. And don’t forget the red card he acquired which cost us the match, Cheers Fabian!!!

Lambert has said that no Villa player will leave in the transfer window, which doesn’t make me feel any better, but if we can get something like £3million for him, then I would take it. If you’ve got a player who doesn’t want to be at any club, then it could affect morale and we need every player singing from the same hymn sheet. Vlaar wants to leave too and I would drop him to the Bench as well, but at least he’s putting in decent performances when he’s called upon.

This isn’t a bitter fan digging Delph out (well, maybe just a little) and coming to terms that one of our best players doesn’t want to be here anymore. If he was offering more than he was giving, then I would have to accept that he’s going to be picked, but I don’t think he’s giving Villa everything, so he needs to be dropped and bombed out of our club. Delph will join a long illustrious line of Villa players who have left us in the same or similar circumstances, so the sooner he goes the better. UTV

  1. Right so a player comes back from injury and you then blame him for trying to carry a shite midfield? Cleverley offers absolutely nothing. Delph Vlaar and Benteke are our best players lose them and we go down simple.

    • Delph flatters to deceive. Too often he carries the ball for too
long , runs into a blind alley, fails to release the ball in time,
or just loses possession and commits a foul trying to retrieve
      the situation.

      • but he does offer something different with his forward runs

and there is roof for improvement from all the midfielders

        especially last third

and now he is out we will see what cleverly can do

i dont want to see him go but we need goals and we have enough centre mids if cleverly stays

  2. bit harsh,,, delph is a much better player when he has space to counter attack into

he was immense against man u,, i just dont think he or any of the midfield do well against teams when we have the greater possession,,

he is a great player, but if he wont sign then he must go if we can get an attacking
    creative replacement

  3. I see this in two ways the club is guilty again of letting contracts run down and losing money because we can’t afford to let them go for good money. In regards to Delph my emotional side feel betrayed with no emotion involved I understand him wanting to go the club has also let him down. He should still be looking to establish himself at the club but when you are surrounded by the likes of Agbonlahor, Weimann, Nzogbia, Cleverley, Westwood, Bacuna and Richardson! I would want to go and improve as a player. We are an average club with average players earning a lot of money for average performances. Is he match fit was he unlucky with the decision! Based on what we have seen recently I think a red was harsh. On the club we should have targets identified to improve the club going forward who potentially are an improvement on what we have. I am more concerned that Weimann and Gabby are not improving or showing the quality necessary due to lack of competition, surely they should be learning from seeing the quality of Benteke in training! You don’ t have to blast the ball every time you see the goals, place it for gods sake. Very frustrated Fan #UTV

  4. Delph is off, whether it be in January or the summer.

I cant blame him for looking at pastures new. The current Villa Park scenario is hardly attractive to ambitious players. We appear to be going nowhere, and you can hardly see that sad state of affairs changing anytime soon.

Hopefully we’ll bring in a quality replacement, not some cheap-jack player from the lower leagues, or some obscure foreign league player.

The body language of several of our players is wrong. Personally I doubt that it’s a happy camp. We are not over blessed with quality or talent, but the players that we do have should be performing better than they are. Something is very wrong.

  5. Why is it we always allow our best players contracts to run virtually out before we try negotiating new ones. I can remember not so long back (within the last 12 months) Delph was screaming for a new contract. As for the last two games, I can remember when Vassell got the same shoulder injury and was never the same player again, I think he’s just come back too early.
As for Vlaar, he has a great World Cup, now he thinks he’s the new McCrath. He has his good days but is so injury prone. If we can get £15 million being quoted by Liverpool for both players, then we should seriously think about it, saves losing them for nothing.

  6. for the most i think the players are happy,, the effort is there

the only one i see angry is benteke,,, his last 2 games were very poor

the team is trying new tactics, so we have to take this into account, plus the refs

have been over zealous,,, but all the positives are in danger of being snubbed out by strange tactics and player selection

we need a no 2 who knows how to attack,,,

  7. how long was this little prick injured . villa stood by him and now he is going to leave for nothing unless we sell him during the transfer window for a lot less than he is worth . i would love to see this little shit get another Cruciate ligament injury in the next few weeks then see who is interested in paying his wages while he takes another two years to get fit again. players like delph take the piss and show no loyalty . fuck him !

  8. If these players don’t want the shirt then let them go.
Okore is a ready made replacement for Vlaar and as good as.
Delph has been ok for us but not irreplaceable. Over rated.
Also get rid of Nzogbia and Weiman if possible. Championship players at best.

  9. I would love to see him stay, but no chance, he’s donned the England shirt and feels he should now be moving on to a better club, so get rid at the right price, and let someone else pay him regular sick pay.

Off topic, I keep reading about Lambert’s “new tactics”, some fans really have short memories, these are just rehashed tactics from when he first became manager two and a half seasons ago.

Think back, they didn’t work for him then, and wont now, because of his insistence of using players such as Cleverly, who are pure workhorses lacking the quality to take us further and upwards.

Lambert will eventually realise, his back to the future style wont work again, say we now have a “new project” and revert to hoofing as before. Sad but true.
