It Was Guzan’s Fault We Lost Today

guzanIt was the dreaded last-minute goal we gave away which spoiled what would have been a brilliant result for the Villa. Aston Villa got off to a very slow start. The midfield and the defence just couldn’t get going, and you could be forgiven for thinking that it might be a bit of a hangover from the FA Cup semi final. But then Guzan made what could be his worst mistake ever, past, present and even flaming future. For me Guzan is at fault for our loss today I’m sorry to say, but you might disagree with me?

I know there was a gap in the wall when Kolarov scored his free kick, but I really believe that Guzan should have made a better attempt in saving that effort. And City’s third goal went under Brad’s legs. I’m sorry but my confidence in Guzan hasn’t been there for a long time. Maybe it’s time for Sherwood to give Given the rest of the season between the sticks?

But there has to be some credit given to Villa, all though it might be hard for us to take at the moment. To drag ourselves from two goals down and actually look like the better side should give us confidence going forward into our remaining matches in the league. It was Cleverley and Sanchez who got the goals for Villa, but again my MOTM went to the unbelievable Jack Grealish. We could be seriously watching the creation of a world-class super star at the Villa!

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, It’s time to crack open a few beers! UTV

  1. your mental hes saved us so many times its unreal free kick is on bacuna one through his legs what ? You throw your body at it and hope come on it was one of them game but over all we played well utv

  2. Unfortunately Brad had a nightmare, but he was not alone the reason for the goals, the wall at the free kick disapeared, Bacuna was more interested in his own safety and hid leaving a huge gap. The corner was woefully defended and we were ball watching spectators. All in all it was three points lost and games are getting short, we cannot keep claiming bad luck, otherwise we we will be the unluckiest team to go down.

  3. Frustrated to say least, particularly with Guzan. A few years ago I sat and watched Guzan as reserve goalie in FA Cup match at the Villa, I’d heard rave reviews regards his shot stopping and penalty saves, however, the one stand out feature I remember most about his performance was the complete lack to command the penalty area for any type of cross. Today, he was at fault for the first goal, the second goal was Sanchez with his usual ability to gift a free kick on the outskirts of the box. Sanchez went on to redeem himself with a beautifully calm strike. At the opposite end Guzan managed to top his suicide mission off with a aplomb, I screamed at the TV to no avail, begging him to make sure he claims or punches the corner kick but no, his feet nailed to the line and then out as the ball is struck into the net! His ability to comand and claim any cross has been his weakness through his career, today it caught up with him big time, that point lost already makes a big difference, let’s hope it doesn’t drag Villa down because at times we showed a great deal of quality, outplaying City. Guzan has saved us in the past, no doubt, but one man who is to blame is thankfully no longer with us and having seen how this squad can actually perform; Lambert hang your head in shame!

  4. Sorry TS, you must drop Guzan and Richardson.
Bacuna was also at fault and Sanchez went AWOL for
City’s winner . Get them in Sunday at body moor ASAP.
    Not good enough
