Matthew Lowton Right Back
Matthew Lowton was bought from Sheffield Utd and was Paul Lamberts second signing for Villa. Its reported that the fee was in the region of three million pounds. I hadn’t heard of him until he came to The Villa. Matty Lowoton fell into the line or the buying policy of Paul Lambert, Young, Hungry and Cheap.
Matthew Lowton just seemed to fit right in at The Villa, and even though he hadn’t played at the highest level, you wouldn’t have noticed that Lambert had bought him from a lower league. With a good little engine inside of him, it enabled Lowton to join in attack’s and then get back in position when the opposition had the ball.
Lowton’s Goals
Matty Lowton only scored two goals in the league this season, but my oh my, what two goals they were. Both were taken on the volley, both were 35 yard’s out, one struck with his left foot and the other with his right, with the one against Stoke, in my opinion, was goal of the season.

Thanks for rating Matty Diane..I dont want him to go either, but I honestly think he wont go anywhere for a good few years. And yes, Paul Lambert did make a gem of a signing.
I will give him 7 / 10. I would have given him 8, but I think he was caught just a little isolated from time to time when he was attacking.
I give Matthew 7 / 10, because at the beginning of the season he was a bit slow coming out of the blocks.
8/10 for me as well … master stroke from lambert
Very gud player full of confidence & only in his early 20’s he grew as the season went along missed only 1 match so for me 8/10
Matt did a superb job and his goals were crucial
Great signing by Paul Lambert and he’s great at going forward
He’ll be even better this coming season
