Remi Garde, Nah, He Ain’t For Me

gardeSo Tim Sherwood got the sack, no surprise really considering our current form and where we are in the league, but we now find ourselves in a worse situation than the one we were in when Tim originally came in. Yes, it was a roller coaster ride when Tim first came to our club, but his honeymoon period ended with a thrashing against the Arsenal in the FA Cup final. But he did save us, so thank you for that Tim.

The board should understand where we are as a club, I do!!! They had a big part in putting us there, fighting relegation for the last five seasons!!! We are a big club, but only in history and footballing facilities, nothing else!!! We can’t attract the decent players anymore, and when our best players get noticed, they want to leave or we sell them!!!

And now we find ourselves looking for another manager who can hopefully save our season. With five years mismanagement from the people in the boardroom, I don’t feel that confident that they will pick the right person to get us out of this situation, and at the moment the bookies favourite is, Remi flipping Garde!!! Christ Almighty we’re a basket case of a club!!!

Why would you take a chance on someone who hasn’t got any Premiership experience, especially when there are managers out there who have? I do believe that we still are an attractive opportunity for a manager who might think they could do better than what we have been doing for the last five years. But we’re about to give the job to a man who most Villa fans haven’t even heard of.

Look at what Tony Pulis and Sam Allardyce have done for clubs like Stoke, Crystal Palace and West Ham!!! Promotion and saving these clubs from the drop is their speciality, and then they get moved on and someone comes in and the club prospers!!! We want to give the job to an unproven manager, and we expect him to save us from relegation, develop our players and turn water into wine!!! The lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum!!!

Nothing in life is a guarantee and this Remi Garde fellow could come in and do something special, but I very much doubt it, my God we like taking huge risks especially when there’s someone like David Moyes (if reports are to be believed), who would love to take the job here at the Villa. And how about Nigel Pearson, you can’t deny the job he done at Leicester City, and now they look down upon us like we’re nothing!!! I can hear many of you cringing at the name, Nigel Pearson!!! Ha Ha Ha, You look down your noses at him like he’s too good for us!!!

Can you imagine if Garde gets the Villa job and we get relegated? That’s right, he’ll be off quicker than a ferret up a drainpipe!!! No, he isn’t for me! There are better candidates out there to take on this very very very difficult job, but with a board like ours, I don’t hold much hope for nothing!!! UTV

  1. Your article is a joke, and I don’t agree with you at all. You rate Allardyce, Pulis, Moyes and Pearson. They’re all mediocre managers, and are the ones who should be called unproven in the Premier League.

Just because Garde is unproven in the Barclays Premier League doesn’t mean he won’t succeed. He is already a succees in the French league, and we all know the French league has great football teams.

Rémi Garde is a pretty good manager, having won two titles with Lyon in three seasons, he has a win ratio of more than 50 %.
He knows French and English. So, he is the best for Aston Villa right now, and is certainly more than capable for the job. In my mind, if Aston Villa gets relegated, I will only blame Lerner, for not appointing him right away.

Check your information before any speculation is made.

  2. I’d personally opt for someone like frank rijkaard and try to bring Martin Laursen as his assistant. Villa are lacking people who knows what it’s like to play for the club and know what the expectations are. Dwight Yorke’s is right in what he has been saying although I don’t think he would be right for the job. And although rijkaard is not a villain, he is a good manager and someone like Laursen would be more than welcome to the fans.

    • Sorry, but what does “knowing what it’s like to play for the club” actually bring? Lots of players know what it’s like, the problem is that we’ve been s**t for what feels like an eternity, so maybe it’s better to bring someone in who knows what it’s like to play for a successful club? Ex-Villa players are more likely to know about mediocrity as they know nothing else.

  3. All of the above make some good points and we all know that all fans can’t possibly be pleased with desicions of this nature. This season at Villa has so far been the lowest point for me since the boardroom fiasco involving the Bendals and Ellis in the 70s. In between the mid 70s and present day we have seen Villa bounce back from relegation but I really do fear for them if they drop. As we all know its not just managerial problems at Villa, its ownership, boardroom, backroom staff all the way through to the stranglehold of what can and can’t be said at Villa. It’s these factors which dictate the next manager and clearly if Villa run true to recent course then the cheapest puppet, sorry, manager, will probably be the option. Pearson, though not brilliant, wouldn’t put up with it. Moyes would need assurance of full control, as would Brendan Rogers. That leaves the French Luitenant and the Burnley boss as front runners. Whoever comes in will need to remove Richardson from that ridiculous position, give Kozak a run, try Bunn, bring in Orkre, reinstate Amavi, drop Gabby for Sinclair, and play Sanchez as a holding midfielder. The other outstanding frustration for me is Jack Woodwood (think that’s him) that shouts in a ridiculously stupid voice at the introduction of Villa at home games. Instead, let’s have the crowd as one getting behind the team to Holte Enders In The Sky, its a small detail but may well unite the crowd and boy do we need to stick together.

    • Of all the above posts Steve seems to be nearer my own views especially regarding team selection. With regard to comment about the manager/coach appointment it does seem that we are getting tied down with the need for premiership experience and we may need something above and beyond that. The names in the frame ooze mediocrity only Pearson stands out as a disaster waiting to happen, he is the without doubt a man who I would least like to represent the club. I think Remmi Garde is a done deal and I also think (hope) he may surprise us, like Steve I have supported the club a long time, since the early 50s in fact so I know what it’s like to stand on the terraces watching third division football. I am not afraid, have faith people, we will be OK.

  4. The club is bad from top to bottom we need Moyes to steady the place and wot ever happens stick with it but most of all we need to be sold still think their to many of my fellow villa fans think we will get out of it we won’t have a cup run this year to give us a bit of feel good factor for 5 years at villa park we have been a struggle to go watch I have friends and family that been going for 20 years or more with season tickets and don’t enjoy it let’s not make the mistake again let’s get the one thing wright Mr Moyes get your self for a interview and Mr learner do something and give him control and you might get a byer for the club that is loved by thousands that would love you’re money and clearly care about Aston villa fc
