Delph Forced To Make A Statement And The Apologies Come In Thick And Fast

Delph Stays AgainVilla fans who know me, know I take a dim view of any footballer who wants to leave Aston Villa football club, unless the circumstances fit my criteria for them leaving, I mostly give them a very hard time. For the last 24 hours, the level of abuse that Fabian Delph has been given on social media was pretty short of disgusting. If you think that views on social media sites, blogs and chitchat amongst the fans go unnoticed, then the statement that Delph was forced to make should prove that they are very aware of the opinions of the Villa faithful.

The apologies to Delph are coming in thick and fast as I’m typing this short post, which is why it is always better to wait for official announcements before you start digging people out. The intense media campaign surrounding this whole Delph situation would try the patience or Job, so I can fully understand people wanting their say on the matter, but you’ve got to be constructive with it, because you could end up with a lot of egg on your face, like so many have!

When a football club have quality players like Delph, then interest will be shown in them, and it’s only human nature for any individual to be flattered and even explore the interest. If it’s true, that Manchester City were interested in him, I’m sure he had a little look, and who can blame him for that, it’s what you do. But I don’t believe that the unwarranted backlash he unfairly received changed his mind on staying, for me, he was always going to stay, because the man has class.

If I were Tim Sherwood, I would improve Delph’s contract with a substantial wage increase, and that’s just for the last 24 hours of abuse he’s received mainly from the Villa faithful. I’ve always said that Aston Villa have to change from being a selling football club if we want to challenge for cup’s and titles, and that means we have to keep our best players, but for me, Delph has shown his loyalty to Aston Villa football club when he signed his new contract accompanied with his video message to the fans, so no matter what happens in the future whether he stays or goes elsewhere, I will always respect what he chooses to do, and that’s partly because of the abuse he unfortunately received from the Villa faithful in the last 24 hours. 1. One thing I do not understand is your speculation that someone has ‘forced’ Delph to make a statement?
In my opinion, this is an assumption by your good self that only bears roots in the gullibility of your love of Aston Villa.
Please realign your personal perception compass to dismiss speculation and comment on facts instead.
Yes, football as we love it is an emotional involvement with the club of our choosing.
Please do not allow media outlets that run articles based on rumour to cloud your judgement on the team you love.
Not every player is a mercenary.
