Aston Villa To Pop The Cherries Of AFC Bournemouth?

The FA CupAston Villa drew AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup, and judging by the response on social media, a good majority of Villa fans don’t think we’ve got a cat in hell’s chance of beating the Championship leaders. This is going to be a tough draw as Bournemouth have been scoring goals for fun in the league, and Villa’s goal tally, well, the less said about that, the better.

Unfortunately our record in Cup competitions has been dreadful over the years, so Villa fans rightfully are sceptical about our chances; it’s terrible what we’ve been reduced to when we think that a Championship side will have the better of us. Having said that, I propose that we fill Villa Park to the rafters and try to make it a real hostile atmosphere for the visitors. If we can get on a little run of form and try to collect a few goals in the league between now and when we play Bournemouth, then who knows? UTV

  1. To beat ’em we’ll have to play a damn sight better than we have done in our last three home games.

As you say, it’s disgraceful that we face lower league opposition in the Cup at Villa Park, yet find ourselves seriously questioning whether or not we are capable of turning them over.

  2. “its terrible what we’ve been reduced to when a championship side will get the better of us” please tell me when, in the history of Aston Villa, with the exception of one year under Martin O’neil, when villa have ever been a certainty to put in a good performance? Currently, Villa on the clingers on in the premier league, a boring and often over rated side. We’d be better off in the championship to give the owners a wake up call.
