Aston Villa To Be Liquidated

liquidation 1Aston Villa to be liquidated, just think about that for a moment, Aston Villa to be liquidated, disturbing, isn’t it? Villa appointed a new chairman in Steven Hollis; apparently part of his CV, is of one that guides businesses into Liquidation from what I’m led to believe.

Today, Aston Villa have appointed a new man to the Villa board, Lord Mervyn King, who is a life long Villa fan who once said, “supporting Aston Villa is much more stressful than being Governor of the Bank of England,” well, we can all agree that its been quite stressful being a fan of Villa for quite some time now.

As far as Kings appointment goes, I’m not as bothered as I was when Hollis got the chairman’s post, as he is a life long Villa fan, but at the same time, I never once thought that liquidation would be the intension of Randy Lerner to hire these guys.

Literally, think about these men putting our club into liquidation under the orders of Randy Lerner! Bodymoor Heath training ground, sold, Villa Park, sold, all the players and any other assets relating to Aston Villa, SOLD!!! They’re taking a risk, aren’t they?

Now tell me, do these men really want to watch the streets of Birmingham descend into all out anarchy, worse than any other riot you can possibly think of!!! Now, I’m not advocating that any harm should come to these men, but we all know that Villa fan who’s just that little bit crazy, which is why I’m not having that they were brought in to liquidate our club, It’s Rubbish!!!

My God we’re in a state here at the Villa, but I do truly believe that Randy Lerner wouldn’t order our club into liquidation! So lets worry about more important things like, how our club (which is no better than a mid table Championship side, and I’m being generous), is going to get back into the Premiership next season. 1. What utter nonsense. I suggest you check what liquidation means.

If anything Hollis is preparing the club for a takeover, which is what everyone wants.

    • wants? needs more like new manager 10 games to see what he’s inherited and what he needs, play the under 21 side, tell every player they are a disgrace, put them ll on a written warning for repeated poor performance, the bloody lot and put every first team quad on the transfer list, theycan spend some of their stupid salaries on getting agents to find a club that wants them.stick the lot on the transfer list, give garde and his merry men a plane ticket to paris and wave them all goodbye.

  2. You obviously are financially inept, what an absolute load of rubbish. If this is an attempt at journalism I would quit now. A fairy story

  3. I wouldn’t dismiss the idea of liquidation to soon if I were you.
Lerner has lost a large part of his own personal fortune. Probably the only billionaire to lose money in the global crash and as a businessman seems to operate in a parallel universe.
He put the club up for sale, for an amazing £200m, then dropped the asking price by 25% to £150m.
The problem for him is twofold, one being that the club is probably now not worth as much as he paid for it, which was £64m. Two being there are no buyers at his asking price.
This means that to recover his money, he has to either find another idiotic billionaire, highly unlikely, or he has to find a way of using the assets of the club.
The assets of the club that are worth real money include Bodymoor Heath and Villa Park, not as sports venue and training ground but, as a housing estate and a combined shopping mall and luxury apartment complex.
The real money from these two projects will be made by the builder, not the land seller.

    • Bodymoor Heath is in the Green Belt – would never get planning permission for accommodation or a mall.

Villa Park is in Aston. Aston (apart from on match day) is a complete dog hole. No one would build plush accommodation or a high end mall here.

      Absolute nothing story.

  4. Insolvency Practitioner here. It IS my job to place Companies into Liquidation (assuming that is the right thing to do).

Steve Hollis is not an Insolvency Practitioner. He is an accountant. He did specialise in troubleshooting struggling companies and so no doubt he has been brought in to CUT COSTS. We certainly wont be spending our way out of the Championship with him in charge, but we wont be going into Liquidation either!

Liquidation would mean everything Aston Villa own would be lost. No resale value to Randy Lerner. We would also have to start again in the bottom tiers of football. Like Rangers did except England has about 14 tiers not 4 like Scotland.

    Please think twice before scaremongering!

    • Great reply from an expert in their field, it says it all. Do people really think that the former Governor of the Bank of England would join a board (of any PLC) that was about to liquidate all their assets and go into financial meltdown? It would completely tarnish his reputation and he would simply not even consider it. After a mammoth series of mistakes by the board over the last 4 years at last they have made a very sensible, prudent appointment.in Mervyn King. And he’s a Villa fan – isn’t that what we’ve been demanding to be on the board? UTV!

  5. I have it on good authority that next seasons parachute money is all that will prevent AVFC becoming insolvent until new money can be found, which is why two financial experts have been brought on board now rather than the end of the season. What a shambles.

  6. Please don’t jump on Glenn’s back so readily as the current structure does seem from the outside that the receivers are close to being called in.The management structure consists solely of “admins”, and also pretty incompetent admins it has to be said.

There are no football people anywhere near the club and it is in ruins already to be frank, the £60 million revenue from the Benteke/Delph sales has been appallingly spent and to hear Tom Fox say this is down to lack of integration beggers belief and shows the level of judgment and competence he has.

I do feel that one purchase like Afobe ( three goals in three games in prem since his transfer from wolves) would have given a fighting chance of staying in the PL.

Also this team is not at all equipped to play in the championship so once we go down I think liquidation is a real option.

Thanks for destroying our football club Mr Lerner – I wish you ill in all you attempt !

    Steve

  7. For once I’m actually a little bit ITK. I know two former Villa players who still have strong ties to the club. I’m told that there has been a lot of negative stuff going on in the background and that the club is in real trouble. However, that was literally what I was told, with no extra detail. Make of that what you will. My suspicion though is that Mervyn King has been brought in to try to save the club financially, so liquidation is not beyond the realms of possibility.

  8. What utter codswallop. Firstly Mervyn King would never become a director of a business that may go into insolvency. His appointment is actually more proof that that will not happen. Comments about the club needing the parachute payments to survive – any club would be in the same position, so please get real. Rumours of discontent in the background – yes I’ve been told the same with more detail and it relates to senior players not toeing the line. This article and some of the comments arising from it, is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read whilst supporting the Villa for more than 50 years.
