I’ve been reading reports that Aston Villa have officially confirmed plans to accelerate the redevelopment of the North Stand at Villa Park.
The stand will be completely closed for the entire 2026/27 season, which means the stadium capacity will temporarily drop to around 37,000. In the long term though, this is a significant move, with plans to increase capacity to over 50,000, expected to be around 52,500 once completed.
The work is being fast-tracked with Euro 2028 in mind, which gives a clear indication of the scale and ambition behind the project.
For season ticket holders in the North Stand, the club have confirmed they will be relocated at the same price and given priority rights to return once the redevelopment is complete.
In the short term, this will have an impact. Reduced capacity means fewer tickets available, and next season is likely to be a difficult one for availability. UTV
