It’s always sad when one of our Villa football legends passes away, but how you take it as a person will depend very much on your age.
Kevin Keegan passed away a short time ago, and I took the news of his death with a lot of sadness. He never played for Villa, but he was always on the telly; he was an English footballing icon.
It could be a celebrity, rock star, film star, or even some TV personality that reads the news. It’s because you grew up with them. It’s when you become aware of yourself. They belonged to us. We believed in them.
So hearing the news of Jimmy Rimmer passing away this morning has upset me dearly. I didn’t know the fellow personally, but he was a part of my life as a Villa fan.
When I scored a goal with my feet, I would shout Shaw. When I scored a goal with my head, I would shout Withe. When I was in goal and made a fantastic save, I would shout Rimmer.
Rest in peace, Jimmy. I will never forget you. UTV
