My first reaction to the new Aston Villa home shirt for the 2026-27 season was simple: “I’m not a fan of this one.” That was two days ago.
But after going back and looking at the new design a few more times, I have actually started to warm to it, surprisingly.
I do not think it is the kind of shirt you can casually wear with a pair of jeans. It does not really give off that fashionable vibe.
The 2025-26 home shirt, along with the black alternative kit, was admired by a lot of neutrals. It looked fantastic, especially on somebody with a slim, athletic build.
A couple of things though.
I will never get used to that blue, vicar-like stripe between the collars. Honestly, I think it is horrible.
Maybe you just have to be a Villa fan to give this new shirt some sympathy and love. Which, to be fair, I am trying to do. UTV

I couldn’t disagree more. I love that shirt. I’m normally a fan of the black or navy kits most but I like this – its probably my favourite C&B kit in years. I like collars.
After having the best home shirt last season of my 60yrs I’m deffo not a fan of this tennis shirt without blue sleeves. Yet I do like Fred Perry polo shirts, I think I’d rather go & buy one of those instead. UTV.

Maybe it will grow on me if the team do well while wearing it, but first impressions are that it is a simple polo shirt. Furthermore, it is not dissimilar to the shirt West Ham have just been relegated in.
Awful looking shirt reminds me of something you would see in matalan minus the badge
