New players arriving at Aston Villa will go through a period of adjustment as they settle into life, both personally and professionally.
It’s important for Villa fans to understand that. The new signings we’ve already brought to the club will need time to find their feet.
They will almost certainly check social media to see what the fans and Villa friendly media think of their performances. So, as supporters, we need to go easy on them for a while.
It’s very difficult to bring together a group of talented individuals and expect them to show the chemistry of a team that’s been playing together for years.
That challenge might be greater if more senior players leave Villa. Ollie Watkins has been linked with Fenerbahce, while Ezri Konsa is reportedly attracting interest from Arsenal.
That’s why I don’t want us to sell any more of our established players, unless they genuinely want to leave. But if more players do leave, then it could take a little longer for our team to find its identity.
And now It’s now being reported that Austin MacPhee is leaving, or he has already gone to join Chelsea. Some Villa fans are having an absolute meltdown over it. Honestly, this really should be the least of any Villa fans worries.
I don’t see it as a major blow, he can clear off. But Villa fans need to be careful not to let the comings and goings of players and staff whip us into a fevered frenzy, because that’s exactly what’s starting to happen.
