Today, reflecting on our match away at Bournemouth yesterday, rewatching the game and looking at the stats, and now getting over the disappointment of only coming away with a point, I actually think it was a very good point. An old Villa fan friend of mine always used to say, if you can’t win, then don’t bloody well lose it, and that was this match yesterday.
Some things do need talking about though, like how Rayan ghosted past Digne like he wasn’t even there, which gifted Bournemouth their first and only goal. Digne has a lot of credit in the bank for me, so I’ll forgive him for that one, but you do have to ask him what was going on there.
Morgan Rogers’ goal was a fantastic goal, taken with what appeared to be much ease. His link-up with Sancho opened the scoring for Villa, and it had me thinking it could be our day on the road. For me, that was the highlight of Villa’s performance.
And is it only me, or was that a blatant penalty Villa should have got? What I believe was a clear foul on Buendia from their right-back Jimenez. No one seems to have made much of a fuss about that challenge, other than Buendia himself, who was right in Jimenez’s face afterwards. I really thought that should have been a penalty to Villa.
Scanning social media after the match, there were a hell of a lot of Villa fans who you could say were extremely upset, who think that it’s all over, who also think that Manchester United and the likes are going to finish above us. I get the disappointment, but for heaven’s sake, belt up will you.
Look, we’re still a very capable team, and we can still do something very special this year. And like my friend said, at least we didn’t lose yesterday. We were second best yesterday, and came home with a valuable point. UTV

Given as we haven’t had a penalty all season I’m not surprised
