Don’t worry my fellow Villans, it’s not because they’re a better side than us. No, no, no. It’s because they’re our bogey side. You only have to look at the head to head record, and without even checking, I guarantee they’ve got more wins over us since I started supporting Villa back in 1975.
Who can forget Boxing Day 2023. We were battering United, went two goals up, cruising, only to somehow lose 3–2 by the end. I mean, we were the better side. Clearly. But that ridiculous jinx they have over us dragged them through once again.
Then last year. The final game of the season. Against our bogey effing side. Of course it was. All we needed was a draw, just a draw, and because of how the other results fell, we’d have been in the Champions League. But no. The bogey team struck again.
I’m honestly starting to think that if we could pick any players in history, past or present, and put them up against the worst Manchester United team ever assembled, the jinx would still find a way. They do my head in.
Look, we are head and shoulders above United at this moment in time. Our stadium is better, our owners are richer, our form is stronger, and our squad runs deep with quality, something United simply cannot say. And yet, I’ve got a horrible feeling.
Just don’t. Just bloody don’t. UTV

rubbish. this villa has more guts and character than any of the last ten years united will fear us more than we fear them
A Mainoo hat trick as he starts and Rogers is taken off after 10 mins with a season long injury.
Im a Villa fan but the United hoodoo looms.
You have a statistical point but you have to factor in our home record, our manager, this group of players and it’s supporters.Never in the last 30 years of my memory have we had all these factors combining. The mental resolve and maturity we have acquired under Unai does not acknowledge the bogeyman. We break records but it’s one game at a time and this is just another game.Crystal Palace should be labelled our bogey team.Unai Emery’s first game was a 3-1 win over Manchester Utd.
Come on what’s with all the negative stuff, we’re miles better than United and yes they have been our bogey team but that’s all in the past we’ve moved on and if we play with high intensity we will win.
Thats my opinion and I’m sticking to it .
Colin mate. We’re going to win. But they are our biggest bogey side in history. I thought I was being humorous
My first game at Villa Park was 8th December 1956 and we lost 2-1 to Manchester United! I’ve been a Witton Ender, a Holte Ender, a Trinity Road season ticket holder for many years and now I only get to watch on the TV but one thing remains constant – I really want to live long enough to see us absolutely stuff United – let’s hope it’s this Sunday. UTV, and as always, SOTC.
