A dreadful first-half performance from the Villa set the tempo for the entire match. We really should have been two goals down by the break. Emery’s decision to push McGinn out wide while leaving two natural wingers on the bench was baffling, and the defensive display was nothing short of shambolic. Brentford exposed us with simple long throws, and we looked completely unprepared to deal with them. Going forward, there was no pace, no spark, and no real creativity in the final third. Brentford were content to sit deep, soak up what little pressure we offered, and then punish us on the break. It was desperately poor. The only saving grace was VAR, which spared us from an even more embarrassing scoreline.
What worries me is the mood running through the squad. Something doesn’t feel right, I can’t quite put my finger on it. I sense a negative vibe about the group — almost as if a few players are feeling sorry for themselves. But why? Is it the absence of key figures like Jacob Ramsey? Or perhaps frustration at the lack of investment in strengthening the squad? Whatever the reasons, this malaise needs addressing fast. Emery, round pegs in square holes won’t cut it, and neither will excuses. The players and manager need to sort themselves out quickly, because performances like this simply aren’t good enough. UTV
It’s lack of investment yes and it’s also Emeries favouritism the players know who and when team mates should be subbed and it isn’t happening it’s lowering moral, that’s my take on things
Regarding the “favouritism”, my good friend said exactly the same thing
