Resilience and Quality Carry Villa Through Against West Ham

We found a way at the London Stadium, and sometimes that is all that really matters. Twice we had to respond, twice we did. Falling behind away from home can test both belief and patience, but this side continues to show a calm resilience that feels ingrained now. We were not at our fluent best, the rhythm was off at times and our passing lacked its usual sharpness, yet myself (as a fan) and the Villa players never felt panicked.

Morgan Rogers’ winning strike was the moment of real quality, a fabulous world-class finish that underlines the confidence flowing through this squad. It was the sort of goal that settles a match and reminds you of the depth of talent Emery is working with.

This was not vintage Villa, but it was effective Villa. A team that can absorb pressure, respond to setbacks and still leave with three points. Credit again to the players and the manager, this group continues to prove that even on an off day, they know how to win. UTV
