Pressure Mounts on Unai Emery Ahead of Brentford Test Tomorrow Evening

Aston Villa head to Brentford tomorrow evening, and let’s be honest – we’re up against it. Brentford are the form side right now, and deservedly the favourites. They’re organised and confident – everything that, sadly, we’re not showing enough of at the moment.

From a Villa perspective, the demand is simple: do more upfront. Please, for goodness sake, score at least one goal. Football is about moments, and right now we’re just not producing enough in the final third. The away point we scraped might offer the tiniest bit of hope, but the overall performance wasn’t anything to write home about.

If there’s a silver lining, it’s in a few individuals who’ve stepped up Saturday afternoon. Against Everton, Martinez once again reminded us why he’s one of the best keepers in the world – calm, commanding, and reliable. Tyrone Mings, too, was solid at the back, while Buendia showed the kind of spark we desperately need more of going forward. If those three can maintain that level, maybe we’ll have something to build on.

But the reality is this, too many more flat displays and Unai Emery will find himself under severe pressure – if he isn’t already. Patience runs thin in football, and while Emery is a top coach, results and performances matter more than reputation.

Tomorrow night is a chance. A chance to show some fight, to create something in attack, and to remind us all that Aston Villa can still punch back when it matters. Whether we take it or not is another story. UTV

    • Emery isn’t under pressure from me, I’m just pointing out that he’s under pressure for just being involved in high stakes football. If old Deadly was still around, I know for a fact what he would be thinking right now.

  1. I agree with the comments in this article personally I think Emerie is getting it wrong tactically and in his team selection, he really needs to drop Watkins and Rogers, the media are saying Watkins fell out with Emerie last season but if that’s why he’s not playing well then drop him because he obviously doesn’t want to perform for the club
And Rogers last 3 games a dud, but you are correct if this crazy situation continues Emeries position will be under fire if it isn’t already. The current situation is not acceptable
