Stop Selling Our Best Players All The ******* Time

BentekeHow on earth is Aston Villa Football Club meant to challenge for football honours, play a brand of football that’s pleasing to the eye and avoid relegation battles every year! WE DO IT BY STOP SELLING OUR BEST PLAYERS ALL THE F*****G TIME. I wouldn’t say we’re a sinking ship, but Aston Villa must try to do something to stop all our best players leaving us all the bleeding time. Players with talent but without exposure to the footballing world, look at football clubs like Aston Villa as a stepping-stone to a so-called bigger club, I’m convinced of this!

It’s been going on for years at Villa, our best players leaving us!!! I believe it all started with David Platt. Unlike the modern footballer that uses us as a stepping-stone, Platt’s genius just like Dwight Yorke’s got them noticed by other clubs and we’d sell them. Two different types of player, the stepping-stone footballer, and let’s say the home-grown one that’s been at the club for years who comes really good then clears off. This cycle has got to stop!!!

Oh I can hear you right now! What about when a club makes you an offer like £32m for your player? You say, No! How much do you think it’s going to cost us to replace a player like Benteke, we’ve already got him, so why let him go? And if a player isn’t up to the standards that you require, you get rid of him and don’t lose any sleep over it. The only exception I’ll make is when a club like Real Madrid make a world record offer for your player.

The last manager that tried to change us from being a selling club was Martin O’Neill. Regardless of what you might think of his time at Villa Park, he tried but ultimately failed to turn us back into a club that might challenge for cups and titles let alone the top four. We do have a Billionaire owner just like Chelsea and like Manchester City, and look at their trophy cabinet! FFFP, Chelsea and Manchester City did.

It gets right on my wick when I hear people say we’re a big massive club. Well, big massive clubs don’t sell their best players! Big clubs buy class players, they pay decent wages and they get rid off anyone in the squad that they don’t want. Unfortunately for Villa things will stay the same with our current owner. Unless Randy Lerner has a massive change of heart or we get sold to someone with ambition and money, you better get used to a lot more of the same. UTV

  1. Villa are finished. T’S will end up like lambert through no fault of his own. Where will the money come from if the club’s up for sale. We will only attract players from the lower league’s or loans. Our best players are leaving. Next season we will struggle again Tim will get frustrated this will transmit to the players and we will go on a loosing run, fans will get on the T’s back and the cycle will continue. Unless major investment happens. Which I can’t see happening in time for August. I’m embarrassed to be a villa fan at the moment.

  2. Umty Dumty randy Lerner, will sell Avfc before the season
Starts and leave TS hung out to dry. No way will this man
Invest in something he’s no longer interested in. Gobby
    Rodney marsh,might be onto something.just hope there’s
An Arab Saudi prince, who mates with. H RH wills to end
    This yanks failure

  3. Sherwood’s idea is to build a team, a team that play as a unit, for each other, for the club, for the fans. He wants a team that will play with pride and privilege of pulling on the claret and blue. At this moment there is no team ethic, we have a bunch of mediocre players, players of the same calibre, even too many similar players. If you look at our last great achievers of European glory be honest and pick out stand alone players, individuals who would blend into today’s top four in the premier league, answer, none, however, as a ‘team’ they gelled, understood each other, became strong together. Sherwood is correct to cut out most of Villas current first team and he is absolutely right on Benteke, if he does not want to stay then sell at the top price. Get a striker in who wants to stay, there are plenty out there that could easily measure up to a Withe or Andy Gray, they were not outstanding and yet with the correct blend of players they certainly became legend’s. Where would those two strikers have been without Shaw and Little. Look back on that European team and think about Des Bremner, not an outstanding player and yet the very player that Ron Saunders speaks volumes of. Sherwood knows he is limited but what he lacks with funds he makes up with commitment and desire and that is what he is going to build at Villa.

  4. We are a club that’s lost its identity ,the rot started in the mid eighties when we started to chase after the success of the first three years of that decade .we never capitalised on our popularity and exposure from around the world ,and like randy Lerner deadly Doug tried to do it all on the cheap this cost us dearly in relegation the break up of the team and the sale of our best players ,it was graham Taylor who turn villa around with promotion back into the big time he chose players who had a particular talent that fitted in with his ethos this brought back stability to the club and thrust GT into the England job ,from then on deadly took time to appoint who he thought was the right man for the job ,we had success under big Ron coming second in the prem missing out on champions league football .the following year league cup success and the year after that a great run in Europe. The same happened under BL ,only for us to start selling off our best player due to once again cuts in player investment .
The proplem is and always will be that our club will only move forward when and only when the chairman has the drive and ambition to do so ,over the past five seasons we’ve been trying to compete only for us to fall short due to cutbacks and more so due to financial fair play .we couldn’t even if we wanted to spend more than the clubs income because the fines alone would wipe out the club ,so here we are with a wet behind the ears manager who will gut the club to the core to try and move us forward with an owner who will sell the club if he can , if not will step down as chairman ,for me this closed season is beyond massive its greater than that , the whole furture of AVFC is at stake ,there’s no time to wait for a buyer and no investment coming from the present incumbent wether we like it or not we are in limbo and this is why players like benteke want to leave he is along with Delph the only players of any value to the club .
This club isn’t beyond repair it needs two maybe three new investors with one single minded ambition …to put villa back on the map a new 60000 all seater stadium with naming rights going to the highest bidder ,and a new manager with real knowledge and foresight like Jose …………..well for now that’s pie in the sky ,so in limbo we will stay and our best players will always want to leave

  5. We’ve been a selling club for as long as I can remember, we sold Rambo, Walters and Hodge before Platt left. The only way this will change is by qualifying for the CL….a very long way off.

Tekkers is a huge player for us, but with the service he received in the final, we could have had Messi and it wouldn’t have changed the result.

We are competing in an old VW Beetle in a league with 4 Porsches and a couple of BMWs. There’s very little money, the only way TS can get anything to spend is by selling. If Tekkers wants to leave to play CL football, we can’t keep him prisoner. He has the right to move wherever he likes.

As Steve Cole said, we need a team, a blend of players, people proud to pull on the shirt.

We’ve seen in the last few months some great performances from the players, who in February, I honestly thought would take us down. It may well have been the honeymoon period but let’s see what TS can do in the transfer market.

  6. You need to get in the real world mate. Never mind challenging for honours how do you expect us to stay in the premiership on our current budget? The only way we get transfer funds is by selling the over-rated Benteke. Every single player we have is of a poor quality which is why for the last 4 years we have been pants. None of them are irreplaceable and we should be looking to move any of them on for a good price.

  7. I think selling benteke is needed, there was different circumstances back when we sold young, milner, barry and Downing. We were up the top and spent around 120m under MON but he lost randys trust. Selling benteke will get us 32m and the deadweight will get us 10-20m, we get around 5-10m in transfers that’s about 60m. If i was tim I’d go and buy Austin, callum wilson, afobe, leroy fer, matty phillips, luke freeman, trippier, andy Robertson, a young english CB and maybe Jack butland. I’d recruit micah Richards and possibly Adebayor on free transfers. That’s 12 players who are definently 10x better then the rubbish we have now, aswell as quality it brings depth, we’re in a major transitional period, losing key players can be a blessing in disguise, look at southampton as a prime example, they only wore off as they didn’t have enough depth in their squad or a striker who could score often enough as pelle was dreadful from October-March. We’re in a difficult situation atm and honestly need that money to survive. Tom fox and tim sherwood are the right men to drive us forward all we need now is the owners and the backing to do so. I honestly believe if we recruited those players I mentioned we could ease midtable and maybe push for europa league and would have the depth to do so, Tom fox is good at bringing in deals which we need with FFP. Stoke and swansea finished 9th and 8th whilst being in the bottom 3 for the amounts spent so if we spend 50/60m this summer on 10-15 players and make additions when and where it’s needed then we’ll be fine. I just hope for once everyone in charge gets it right, because it’s about F*cking time

  8. other teams have over taken us, so’ton, swansea, stoke, westham, everton

we used to be a top 6 club, now we are a bottom 6 club, with championship standard players, no matter what manager you bring in, tactics you use, if you dont have the players, you just cant compete, it’s not rocket science!

if you sell your best players and dont replace them, then your begging for relegation, as the guy says, the only change that can drastically improve us, is a change of ownership and huge investments made.

  9. beyond caring these days , admire you diehards who spend your bucks and go down and watch that drivel…i expect a better season though under sherwood maybe pushing mid table i cant wait….come back doug alls forgiven
