Remi And The Bald Noggin Of Guzan: Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester City

garde 1It all starts with picking the right team, doesn’t it? And fair play to Remi, he picked the right team. I think this has got to be the first time in a long time that most people were happy with the starting line-up, and I didn’t detect any melt down on social media.

Villa were at their best in the first half I think it’s fair to say, and with Jordan Amavi being recalled to the starting line-up, It was him that was involved in our first promising move ending with one of his trade mark crosses in the box which sadly ended in nothing, but the intent was very much there.

The little Spanish dictator, Carles Gil, was at the centre of most things creative and good, makes you wonder why Sherwood didn’t start him more often. To be fair, it was an all round good performance by everyone who put on the Claret and Blue today, and yes, three points would have been nice, but the confidence it could give us going into future matches, could be priceless.

One of the funniest moments for me was when Guzan made a save with his bald noggin in the second half. At first, we all thought it was an absolute world-class save, only for the replay on the giant television screen which confirmed that Villa got a huge slice of luck to keep it at 0-0. The Villa faithful around me couldn’t stop laughing, but we were all extremely grateful for Guzan’s slap head.

I did say in my last post, that I would be keeping a beady eye on Garde. I said I would pull him up on any mistakes that I think he would make, so when he does everything right, like team line-up’s and substitutions, you must also give him credit. So for me, we can thank Remi Garde for our first point since Sunderland, well done Remi!!! UTV

  1. still exposed down the flanks and not much up front
guzan shaky and still the odd frustration but they worked hard and there was some good midfield play but we need a striker

    all in all pretty positive

he looks like he knows his french onions

  2. For once they all earned their wages and certainly my respect today. Thought the support was brilliant and matched the teams endeavour. A silk purse we don’t have but perhaps not a sow’s ear either UTV.
