Pitch Invasions, Seats Torn Up, And A West Bromwich Albion Thrashing

av vs wbaI went to the match, and then I went back home and watched it again out of pure excitement. The first half was one to forget from a Villa point of View, and truth be known, we were lucky not to come in a couple of goals down. Villa just couldn’t get going! The Villa goalkeeper and the defence kept us in the game.

The second half was a memorable one for the Villa. Sherwood must have got into them at half time, as every Villa player on that pitch didn’t resemble the one’s who were on there in the first. Delph opened the scoring with a wonderful strike, and lets not forget that N’Zogbia laid on the ball to him, brilliant!!!

Sinclair scored our second goal, and my God the lad finished the move off with a world-class effort, the fans went wild, and I nearly passed out through celebrating hard! The match was a game of two half’s for Villa, and to beat your local rivals twice in four days, I can tell you this day is going to remain in my mind for a long time.

There were two red cards in the match today. WBA had Yacob sent off for what appeared to be a two-footed jump into the tackle with Bacuna. Yacob’s second yellow looked a bit harsh, even if both feet are raised one inch of the ground, you run the risk of the referee making a decision. Jack Grealish on the other hand can find himself very unlucky. The young lad got clipped as he was trying to take the ball past the West Brom defender, for Goodness sake, he was off-balance whilst he was in the air through contact!!! He might have a chance of overturning his second yellow card if Villa decides to appeal it.

The Negatives

Yes the Villa fans invaded the pitch with two minutes to go, and let me tell you, the Villa fans let them know how flipping stupid they were behaving. Villa will get a hefty fine for the pitch invasion, but the FA will understand that it was just high jinks from the fans, and even though I don’t agree with what they did, I can certainly understand why they got over excited, just wish they could’ve waited until the final whistle was blown.

But something far worse happened with-in the match yesterday, and this despicable act falls squarely at the feet of the West Brom fans. Just because they went two goals down, doesn’t give them the right to rip up the seats and then throw them down on the Villa fans beneath them, I mean a child could have been hurt! This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever witnessed at Villa Park. While I’ve been writing up this post, a WBA fan called the show to say how he was disgusted by the actions of his fellow supporters, and I applaud him for his honesty.

To finish On A Positive Note

To finish this post off, I’d like to say we’re actually going to Wembley!!! We all know it’s not the final, but who cares!!! We deserve this, and anything is possible now that we’ve got Sherwood as our manager. His confidence and cockiness has turned me into a believer, and I don’t care whom we get the semi final because of this. We’re back as Big Football Club, and I’m loving it!!! UTV

  1. dont bear thinking about as you say those seats could have caused serious injury to any one especially children, feel sorry for young jack,he got clipped and couldnot keep his balance never a booking, hope villa appeal.think the ref wanted to even things up for his bad decision in the other sending off,he lost it a little towards the end.but he ho we won.

    • Hated the result but have to accept that the better team won, twice.
If it had been us who won we would have had a field day rubbing it in. We didn’t, so we have to take all that’s coming- that’s football.
I felt both red cards were harsh. Yacobs should be overturned on video evidence and Grealish was lightly clipped by Lescot which also should be overturned on appeal with video evidence.
Thank you for the generous applause for “Justice for Jeff” on 9 minutes, it showed that rivalry can have class too.
The w@nkers who threw seats need their heads examined ( and tracking down by the police) . Disgaceful behaviour that could have had very serious consequences. You lose, it hurts, you take it!
Your pitch invasion at the end was sort of understandable but the one during the closing minutes was not. The idiots at the bottom of the Doug Ellis/Holte showed that we both have “knuckle draggers” that come out of the woodwork on these occassions.
Reckon we need to sign the linesman to put some pace into our attack.

  2. we have to remember we are crippled by injuries too
so despite the shaky start which was expected well done to the full backs
they did well all things considering
and both gabby and zoggy were positive second half and delph looks back to his best
but credit must go to the coaching staff,, the first two games were pretty dreadful as kick and rush is as bad as crab football
they have managed to combine the best parts of both and play to our strengths with 3 centre mids which we are used to and suits us
and with zoggy and gabby looking better its fair to say things look so much better now
and its the ability to recognise whats happening and change tactics quickly which really pleases me,,
and it feels like the players confidence is starting to return
its a long road but it looks like we are heading in the right direction

  3. How about your moronic fans that ran on and assaulted a couple of west brom players, or the fans that tried to bite Delph?? Try to be a bit less biast next time when writing this tripe! Moron.
