Paul Lambert Sitting Pretty At The Villa

Lambert new dealSo, Paul Lambert gets a new deal at the Villa, how do you feel about that? I did call for Lamberts head around December time last season and I didn’t regret it one bit! Blimey, it was one of the worst seasons I’ve ever experienced being a Villa fan, so I make no apologies for wanting Lambert out.

I’m not a politician, so, I don’t have to worry about doing a U-turn (changing my mind). It’s football, if we’re playing rubbish and the club is being run badly over a long period of time, then pressure is going to be on the people who make the football decision’s at our club, whether they be in the boardroom or out.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

But Lambert has made a lot of good decision’s, Roy Keane is his biggest in my opinion. To bring such a big personality a legend to the club (especially if things go wrong and he could be given the job), speaks volumes about Lambert self-confidence in himself to put things right. He’s also brought back the bomb squad and look at them go!!! Hell, he even gave Hutton a new 3-year contract and he deserved it. He also sacked his best mate last season, not an easy thing to do my fellow Villans.

These decisions have brought us to where we are now, 3 wins and a draw, second in the league with 10 points. We have to give him credit for this, don’t give me it’s all down to Roy Keane, yes Keane has played his part in our mini revival, but let’s remember who made the choice to bring Roy to the club in the first place.

So, Lambert is going to get my backing now, I’ll judge him from this point onwards; that doesn’t mean he’s beyond criticism if I feel he’s doing a bad job, and if I do criticise him, that doesn’t mean I want him sacked either, the slate is wiped clean and I’ll give him time to try and get it right.

Let It Go!!!

Just a quick word to those who are upset about Lambert staying; he’s got a long extended contract, so he isn’t going anywhere and who knows, this could be the start of something good, So let it go!!! Try and get behind your club, otherwise it could affect your health, you know what I mean! UTV

  1. with all the upheaval in the summer lambert could have walked,,, this would have been a disaster as he knew the players capabilities where a new man may have got rid of many players and started again,,,, but he committed publicly and persuaded learner to release the purse strings a bit

he trusted his own judgement and bought in some very average players to some ,,,, who have more than justified his decisions,,,
what ever you think of lambert for once he has a good squad and the benefits are being reaped
and we know we are going to have a few sticky patches but we have enough competition to change things if injuries and form dip

his loyalty deserves a contract extension, and adds to the stability of the club
just hope the improvements can continue

  2. Excellent piece of business by Lerner and Fox. The sensible and correct course to take.

Things look so much brighter and positive than they ever did back in early summer. Then the club was drifting aimlessly, stagnating, going nowhere fast. Now you sense that we have a purpose again, a direction, a goal.

There seems to be leadership once more, and while we will obviously have our set-backs, we at least seem to have turned the corner and are slowly getting ourselves back on track. You can clearly see light at the end of the tunnel.

A new contract for Paul Lambert? Yes, I can go with that.

  3. Excellent news for all of us in mine opinion! Who else could have taken over this great club and do as well with limited resources? Thanx for your loyalty and commitment Paul, keep up the good work 🙂

  4. If you would of said to me 12 months ago Hutton and lambert would be getting new contracts I would said you were mad but fair play to them both deserve them….all lambert has to do now is to take English lessons or hire an enterpreter so we all can understand what he’s saying
