Lions Tigers And Jack Grealish: Aston Villa 2-1 Hull City

av hull 10000The first half was Villa’s hands down, 2 goals, strikes on target and the woodwork of Hull City’s goal took a hammering throughout the first half. We literally could have put this game out of sight for the visiting side in the first 45.

The second half wasn’t as good as the first 45 minutes, but we didn’t play as bad as Hull did in the first half. We sat back, why do we do this? Is it orders from the management? Is it a psychological thing? Who knows? One thing I would say is, when we’re going forward with confidence, we look great! They need to have more trust in their attacking play.

Goals from Gabby and Weimann were enough to give us the win today. The first goal being the pick of the two for me was born out of good build up play from the Villa; the goal was neatly dispatched by Agbonlahor on 14 minutes, the Villa faithful went wild when he put it past McGregor from 16 yards out, well done Gabby!!!

Carlos Sanchez didn’t have his best match when he came on for the Villa, it looked to me like he was getting in the way of the centre half’s on occasion; he needs time to adjust and gain more fitness, I’m sure he’ll prove to be a great signing from Lambert.

Jack Grealish

Jack made his appearance on 75 minutes and it looked like they were targeting the young lad with some rough stuff; I could be wrong, but the Hull players might have been under orders from the Hull management (Potato Head). Or maybe it’s because he proved to be an instant threat. Yes, he made one bad pass, but that was after he carried the ball for 30 yards ignoring the Hull players all around him. And he was a real threat when he was attacking the opposition goal, skipping around the Hull players like they weren’t there and passing the ball to the right person at the end of his run, brilliant! Yes it’s a cliché, but if the young lad can keep his feet on the ground he could go all the way, even to England maybe.

So now we’ve got the international break and we won’t play our next match until the 13th of September; I’m about to tuck into my Ice Cold Budweiser’s and I’m not going to keep my feet on the ground until we’ve played Liverpool. UTV

    • He was born in Birmingham. He qualifies for Ireland through his Dad and Grandparents. He’s played for Ireland from U-15 to U-21 level.

I believe he could still play for England senior team, if picked, as he is British. He’ll have to make a decision who he wants to play for as he gains more exposure.
