I’m Naffed Off And I Can’t Help It

naffed offThe way we’ve been playing under Sherwood since he arrived here at Villa Park has been nothing short of a miracle, so for us to lose 6-1 was a shock. The match was over in the first half when Southampton scored five goals in twenty-five minutes, which included the fastest Premiership hat-trick ever to be scored, a record our last manager would have been proud of. If there was anything to be learned about our first half hammering today, it’s that Alan Hutton is not a left back and I don’t think Sherwood will make the mistake and play him there again.

So driving back up to Birmingham was a tense one, we hadn’t secured our Premiership status, so most if not all the Villa fans turned their attentions to the match between Tottenham and Hull. Listening to BBC 5 Live, Hull was having the better of the first half, and you were left saying, “here we go again.” But thank God Spurs got their act together and scored two goals in the second half of their game, which means we stay in the Premiership next season.

But you know something, I’m sitting here feeling pretty Naffed Off, and I can’t help it!!! I hope all that good work which Sherwood has done, doesn’t end up costing us the FA Cup final. We need to put on a good performance next week, and then we’ll know (I hope) it was just a one-off today. I think the best way to get over our loss today is to drink loads of beer, and that’s what I’m going to do right now!!! UTV

  1. It was a shocker & a sucker punch for sure but as you say hutton is not a left sided player but they were all out of thought today not just him & it was certainly a kick up the arse big time which we surely got but putting that game to bed now being on next week final game of the season & at home should be a different kettle of fish so let’s finish the season on a high mainly for us fans that have suffered for the majority of the season yet again then it’s the cup final which will no doubt be very hard game but hopefully it will be a good 1 to say the least so come on you lions let’s fight like lions #vtid

  2. when you are hit with 3 in 3 minutes its game over,,,,
you dont come back from it,, and it alows the other team to go for it
and your own team to become nervous and go to pieces

the lads have given so much since sherwood took over so lets get behind them and send them to wembly with as much noise as we can

we know about the silly mistakes that must be addressed next season
and the areas where we need to strengthen

  3. It was an absolute shambles, but thankfully we haven’t got to endure a nervy, tense ninety minutes against Burnley next Sunday. I knew Tottenham Hotspur had to be good for something.

Vlaar and Okore were awful. Sluggish, clumsy, both looking way out of their depth. Lets have a look at Senderos and Baker next weekend. They cant do any worse than today’s pairing.
Hutton back at right full back please, with Lowton on the other flank.

Hopefully it was a one-off. A performance like that at Wembley in the showpiece season finale would be a disaster.

  4. Hope this proves, that there needs to be a massive cull by TS
This is a warning ,nothing’s changed, you just scraped home.
Let the clear out begin. And give the away fans a refund.

  5. Spot on with what you said about Hutton. Also if Bacuna is a right back, I’m a 20th Century Russian revolutionary poet’s toothbrush.

Vlaar had a nightmare, was exposed by his lack of pace, and if he leaves in the summer would it be any major loss?
