Frank Lampard To Aston Villa, Would It Be Nice!

lampardIf only our situation was different, then I think this might be possible. Frank Lampard to Aston Villa would be a great signing. We’ve a history over the years of signing players in their early thirties, I know Frank is 36, but this guy is a fitness freak and he never breaks down!

Just before Doug Ellis sold Aston Villa to Randy Lerner, he hired Martin O’neill. Signing O’neill couldn’t have been cheap and he didn’t have to put his hand in his pocket, but he did one last time. Wouldn’t it be great if Randy Lerner would do something similar?

There might be one or two other players like Frank out there, seemingly at the end of their careers that we could pick up, but has Lambert got the guts to ask Randy to sign a cheque one last time? I doubt it, isn’t it frustrating!!!

I believe we missed a trick in not signing Joleon Lescott and signing Lampard is wishful thinking on my part. But I can’t stop thinking to myself, that under different circumstances we might have actually been able to sign Frank Lampard on a two-year deal or something like that, oh to be a Villa fan!!! UTV

  1. It would not make common sense, I would rather have a young player, with a lot of potential, who is on the fringe of being a international

  2. Yes Dave you are right it does not make common sense, I mean the guy is one of England’s best, He has a vast array of experience that only would improve the players like Westwood, Delph and Gardner. He is on a free contract and with a high salary (Bent+Given’s ) wage (N.Zogbia+Ireland) (Dunne+Petrov) you can see where I’m going out, it’s for a season or two and it would instantly put us in the top 10 and that’s not being unrealistic.

It makes perfect common sense, Someone who can score from outside the box, someone who will give Benteke a huge amount of supply, someone who could actually give Agbonlahor the through balls and goals on a plate that only Young/Downing/Milner could achieve.

Extremely unlikely, in other cases if we was in the top 6 yes he would come there’s no doubt a bit of cash would certainly get him, Look at QPR signing big players on big wages, it’s a risky strategy but they are only using the massive amount of cash they get injected when they get promoted, along side us who believe it or not get a massive amount of cash for staying up!! Our wage bill is in fantastic condition even though we still have Given, Hutton, Bent and N.Zogbia on the books and them 4 players wages could bring you Lambert and Rio Ferdinand on over 100k each. We have scoop to manoeuvre my god we have trimmed a fat 500-600k off our wage bill when we hit the giddy heights of 6th (back in the norm) that’s a huge 26m a season minimum, with the new tv deals etc etc some one is getting their losses back slowly.

  3. Although Lampard can still pass the ball, he looked well short of reaction times and pace the other night. I shudder to think of him in front of Senderos, a turtle could tap dance through them. Also a small point, we have no money.
As for a last “gift” like MON, would rather we didn’t get someone who paid mediocre English players a lot of money and then walks out when he’s not allowed to do that anymore. Curtis Davies may have been the exception but then we didn’t keep him.

  4. This could be a really great signing. His fitness is still there and as for experience there is no one better. He would command respect in the dressing room after his
illustrious career and he could play consistently this season and possibly next.
If his wages are a problem why not bring him in as Assistant Manager. I know Keane is Lamberts pal but I know who I would sooner have. Definitely brings more to the table than Keane and his high salary would be affordable with a dual role.

  5. Keep on dreaming lads , he is quite happy in the London area he has two young daughters in a nice private school why would he uproot and move to Birmingham he certainly wouldn’t want his daughters in school here in case they are radicalised by some mad mullah :-). Seriously though think you will see him at a London side like west ham, Fulham , or QPR

  6. Was about 10 years ago and we made an offer. He didn’t want to sign for us then. He went to Chelsea for the money, not the football. Why sign him now? His heart aint in it, it’s always been about money. I say keep well away and sign young hungry players who are proud to wear the shirt.
