Fabian Delph To Stay At The Villa

Delphs messageThere is a difference between Delps’s buy out clause (if there is one at all) and Benteke’s. If the reports in the press are to be believed, the buy out clause for Fabian Delph is somewhere in the region of £10m, quite hard to believe isn’t it! There is a reason why Benteke’s buy out clause is £32.5m, it’s because he can’t wait to leave the Villa if the truth is to be known; so if no one comes up with the ready’s in Benteke’s case, well, he wont be going.

The buy out clause for Fabian could be £10 for all I care, but that doesn’t matter, that’s because Delph doesn’t want to leave. Remember the video that accompanied Delph’s new contract, doesn’t really strike you as a Stewart Downing type of situation, does it! And let’s not forget, just because there might be a buy out clause in a players contract, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will leave; he can say NO you know.

Fabian Delph is a good lad and I think the Villa faithful should have a bit more faith in him. Unless a ridiculous offer comes in for him, or no suitable replacements are brought in to replace the outgoing players, then I think there is no cause for concern yet. And let’s just wait and see what players Sherwood can bring to the Villa before we all start getting down and depressed. Micah Richards is a quality footballer and he isn’t a bad start. There could be a few more coming in to the same standard as Richards, and I think Delph knows this. UTV

  1. If Sherwood can get the deal done for Stokes keeper that will be two quality signings in with Micah Richards as well. Don’t envy Sherwood though, what money is available? Our current owner has one foot out the door and the possible new owner whoever they are maybe has one foot in the door so who funds whoever Sherwood wants or can he only buy big if he sells big.? The sooner the clubs sold or Lerner decides to keep it the better. Lets hope its not after the current window shuts cause that will make it really difficult. Some decent players on the move this window and it would be great to be in for two or three of them.

  2. Firstly there is no loyalty in football Delph and any other player signs a contract knowing it aint worth a toss, contracts are all in the favour of the player not the club, the delph video is so similar to the downing speach when he said exactly what delph said i.e the club has stuck by me so i will stick by them,,he was at liverpool within a fortnight remember.
Secondly why would Asmir Begovic leave stoke and come to villa its not exactly a forward move in his career is it we dont pay wages any more than stoke so would he leave a safe mid table club to a struggling club who are always in a relagation scrap, but hey we can all hope

  3. I expect he’ll go. And when he does for £10m his loyalty and the clubs ambition will be questioned. But it still represents a better outcome than could have been achieved before he signed a new contract. If he hadn’t Villa would not have received a transfer fee. So well played Villa and Fabian – the outcome is you both receive more money. I hope I’m wrong but if I’m not the club has major rebuilding to do in midfield – just like in goal, in defence and in attack.
