Does It Really Matter Who Buys Aston Villa?

does it matterDoes it really matter who buys Aston Villa? Well, they’ll more than likely have a few quid in the bank but they don’t necessarily have to have the obscene wealth of the Manchester City/Chelsea owners. Who would want that? ‘Me’, I hear some of you say! Think about it, would you really want all the riches in the world to buy any player that you want? We could end up with no Englishmen in our side and I wouldn’t want that!

Look, whoever buys Aston Villa aren’t going to be short of money, they will be fully aware of our current situation and how we struggled over the last four seasons. The only problem is time, and time isn’t on our side! We need quality players at the Villa or it could be another season of struggle.

It’s been reported that two American Billionaires, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, could be interested in buying the Villa for a reduced fee of £150 million. Well, I don’t know too much about these two fellows but they do have a background in sporting franchises as the papers put it. Could it be a marriage made in heaven if they were in charge of our club?

As for the question, does it really matter who buys Aston Villa? Well, the answer is yes! When Randy Lerner is dropping the asking price of Villa every other week, the possibility of a Vincent Tan type of character might be interested in buying the Villa, and if that was to happen, well, it doesn’t bare thinking about. 1. The sooner we get bought the better. Only problem is the asking price, is £150,000,000 to much it, shouldn’t be. Gareth Bale £89 mill Villa £150 mill, crazy times.

  2. It does matter. We need a sensible owner with commercial nous and an empathy for the sports fan.

Deep pockets are (potentially) something of a red herring with the introduction of FFP. It will be about getting the business side right (replacing RL’s cronies – Fatty Faulkner and hopeless Russell – with a well constructed and knowedgeable board) and using the proceeds to invest wisely in the footballing side through a structure that is both sustainable and progressive!!

    • I totally agree with you. Hopefully they tackle the business side of things first! Look at the Fenway group for Livepool fc now compared to the Hicks & Gillete debacle, no comparison. Get right off the pitch and hopefully succes will follow on the pitch!!! Just wish this would happen sooner rather than later.

  3. Glenn I would love the money Chelsea and Man City have because the difference between us and them is we are a huge club with no money but Chelsea and Man city suddenly think they are massive clubs as they have rich owners(don’t think so) . Get the history books out who the f–k were those two ten years ago…
