Darren Bent The Invisible Man Deserves Respect!!!

Darren-BentDarren Bent Deserves Respect

I admire what Paul Lambert is trying to do at The Villa, his player criteria most Villains know, Young, Hungry and Cheap. Darren Bent isn’t Young he aint cheap but I wouldn’t say he isn’t hungry, he’s just at the wrong team at the moment. The Darren Bent Aston Villa bought a few seasons ago thrived in a team like Villa then. He came in the winter of 2011 when Villa were in a spot of bother, but he knew in his own words, we were in a “false position”. I cant tell you how elated I was when the news was broken on Talksport, that we had signed The Dazzler from Sunderland.

It Was The Dazzler That Kept Us Up

Yes, thanks to Darren Bent’s Goal’s, I believed we avoided relegation that season. And who can forget the winning goal that he scored on his home debut against Manchester City, who we beat 1- 0. I hadn’t celebrated a goal like that in a long time, and the way he tapped that Villa badge when he went off to celebrate his goal was amazing, absolutely amazing, Thank You Darren Bent for Keeping us up that season.

So Where Did It Go Wrong

Well, it was nothing Darren had done, his supply line had been sold. Ashley Young went to Manchester United and Stuart Downing was sold to Liverpool. And with the Alex McLeish taken charge of the club with orders from Randy Leaner to cut the wage bill (cost cutting), no suitable replacements were found to suit his game.

Then fast forward 12 months, McLeish was sacked and Paul Lambert took over the helm at Villa Park, and Villa was going to go in another direction altogether. So we know PL’s Criteria. Paul Lambert started to bring the youngsters in, and who would have known that we’d purchased The World Class Benteke. Well Benteke kept him on the bench and no one could blame PL for keeping him there because Benteke offered so much more. And on the odd occasion when Darren would get his chance it was quite clear he was the invisible man in that Villa side, and we might as well have been down to ten men. This isn’t a criticism of Darren its just the side had changed and we couldn’t play to his strengths anymore. But I have no doubts The Dazzler can be a huge asset to any football team, so long as they play to his strengths.

The Disrespect Shown

Its no secret that Darren Bent is now up for sale and I don’t blame the management for this, I actually think he should go because he doesn’t fit into our current side. But Paul Lambert has now told the Darren that he’s not to train with the first team for preseason. And for me, thats humiliating and disrespectful for the lad. The man never once moaned, he didn’t open his heart to the press, and say he’s been hard done by (unlike some Villa players of past had) he stayed professional and kept himself fit just in case he was called upon by his club. So good luck Darren, I’m one of many Villa fans who appreciated you.

  1. I’ll start off by saying thank you very much darren bent for your services when you came in money was well spent at the time kept us in the Pl without a doubt always score goals with service which now is what we don’t have anymore so good luck at you’re next club but hope he don’t rub it in & score past us lol !!!

  2. As for being left out of the training regime with the 1st team is basically a big shame for him but good in other ways we are a young team who are willing to earn loyalty to wear a villa shirt good way of going forward & get the players like bent off the big wage bill no good paying them when they never going to play for villa ever again so Cheerio big boys & come on you young villans let’s prove people wrong !!!

  3. I for one second what the villa blogger has posted. Darren is in the wrong team at the moment and im sure he could perform for some other club. So good luck to your future Benty

  4. I respect and thank him for the time he has spent at Villa. His limitations as a player have also led to this situation for the that type of money we should expect more and he should want to do more as a player. I wish him well but football is now all about money, the great players love the game and the money is incidental bacause they always want to improve and then there are the players where money means everything and they never get any better or things evolve and leave them behind.
