Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar World Cup Rating

Ron Vlaar 1There haven’t been many Villa players in this World Cup tournament. No Villa player has represented England this time, only two; Ron Vlaar and Philleppe Senderos have played for their countries.

How have they performed? As far as Phillippe Senderos is concerned, I don’t really know how he’s played, I haven’t watched any single match he’s played in. What I do know is that, Senderos played one match against France; he came on as a sub in the ninth minute and his side proceeded to lose 2-5 to France. I’m not saying it was his fault, but Switzerland’s other matches were a lot closer without him in the side. Perhaps you could let me know how he performed against France?

Ron Vlaar has been ever-present in the Dutch line up. I would go so far as to say that he has been very important for his country’s progression in the World Cup. Holland has a formidable attacking line up, so when they are attacking, they can leave space behind and are susceptible to the counter attack. But Vlaar for me is very fast for a big man and was always there or thereabouts doing his defensive duties to the max.

For me, I would give Vlaar 8 out of 10 for his World Cup so far. If Holland goes any further, like the final or even win the cup, then I would start to worry about keeping Vlaar at the Villa. His performances are bound to draw attention and if I were a betting man, I bet some offers might come in for him from somewhere. UTV

  1. Apart from that one little mistake in the Costa Rica match, where a penalty might have been given against him, I think he’s been a top, top world class defender. 9/10 for Ron. Sign him up Lambert quick!!!
