Aston Villa Player Season’s Ratings (Joe Bennett)

Joe BennetJoe Bennett Left Back

Joe Bennett is a Young Villa Lion who was brought into The Villa family by Paul Lambert. He was bought from Middlesbrough FC for fee believed to be in the region of about £3,000,000.

This I feel could probably the hardest post I’ve had to write for the Seasons Ratings series. And thats because as a Villa fan its hard for me to write a post full of criticism for a Villa Lion. But its really hard for me to pick out many highlights of Joe’s season.

Aston Villa vs Ipswich, Joe had a half decent match against Ipswich. He defended very well and was always looking to attack. He also provided an assist with a very good left footed cross for Weimenn’s Goal. This in my opinion was Joe’s best match. He also had a good game against Sunderland. His confidence grew as the goals kept coming for Villa. I don’t think one Sunderland player beat Joe that night, so for that I give him some credit.

My Rating For Bennett Out Of Ten

Joe Bennett 5 / 10

  1. I give Bennett 6/10, his defending could do with tightening up but I don’t think he looked to bad gaining forward. Perhaps a little bit more bulk on him might help him out, as he was easily knocked of the ball on occasions.

  2. I agree with a 5\10 to be honest, a decent squad player but not worth 3 million on what I’ve seen of him this season. On the other hand he is still young and with a bit of improvement on certain areas of his game, particularly the defensive side, he could prove me wrong and show himself to be a good investment.

  3. Little joe wil cum of age in a yr or 2 beta midfield player than wat he is playin left bk & tht ain’t a fat lot tho biggest let dwn in villa team last season so ill give him 4/10 can’t say 2 much about him cuz didn’t see him do much apart frm cock ups !!!!

  4. 5/10 seems a fair score.

Will he progress like some of Lambert’s other buys or will he fall by the wayside? Like a lot of the younger players, he could have done a wise old head beside him. He is 23 – so not that young – I think next season may be make or break for his Villa career.
