Aston Villa Missed A Trick Not Signing Joleon Lescott

LescottJoleon Lescott for Aston Villa? It would have been a good signing but WBA has signed him. What does that say about Villa? Well, it says that Aston Villa FC is still up for sale and it doesn’t look like we’re going to be bought any time too soon. You could say that WBA have scored the first goal in the Phony War against Aston Villa for the Pride Of The Midland’s title.

I think a signing like Joleon Lescott would have given most of the Villa faithful a lift in the off season, especially now that England are out of the World Cup. The hangover from Villa’s 2013/14 Premiership campaign has resurfaced in some of the Villa fans; I just think the signing of Lescott, who is a Villa fan, would have built a few bridges between the Club and the still shell-shocked Villa faithful.

We have made two signings though! Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos, how does that sit with you? For me, it shows where we are as a club! I was quite surprised they would want to come to the Villa at all, considering we’re still up for sale, I actually think it’s a bit of a coup for us and don’t forget, they’ve got Premiership experience.

So, what now? Who knows? We’ve just got to wait and see, but I wouldn’t expect any signings to get the Villa faithful excited before we play Stoke (we’ve already missed one in Lescott), unless we get sold of course! UTV

    • Dude, your talking through your backside, with the greatest of respect. You’ve only got to know a little about Jeremey Peace to know that he wouldn’t sanction £100,000 a week for any player. More in the region of 40 to 50 Thousand at the most.

  1. batfastard? you console yourself with the notion that WBA are paying £100k per week for Lescott. This would be an uplift of around £30k per week from what City were paying him. It is widely reported that he is in fact on around £50k per week … substantially less than you are STILL paying for Bent.

Our chairman would never sanction such lavish spending….. that is a FACT.

Just accept that you missed out to your poor neighbours on a player most Villa fans would have dearly loved to have captured.

  2. We got two players for the wages of Jolean, so I understand why Lambert did what he did. I just hope the old adage you get what you pay for doesn’t hit us. Senderos hasn’t sped up since his his time at Fulham and Cole has this thing for injuries.

    • You can rest assures that Cole ain’t on less than £35k per week and Senderos at least £25k. In which field of mathematics is that equal or less than £40/50k that we are paying Lescott?

  3. I don’t care about Lescott but what is interesting is all this about being a villa fan. Tosh, has a chance to finish his career with the team he supports an he opts for their rivals, for an extra 10,000 grand a week. What does that say about his motives apart from money. Let the Baggies have him, not a bad player but prone to mistakes, think this could be another amazing Anelka move lol, and he’s taken over his wages that all the Baggies say Peace wouldn’t pay. No great loss Villans UTV

    • When you talk about ‘Anelka’ type deals you mean like Bosko Balaban, Sasa Curcic, Darren Bent, Charles N’Zogbia, Jean Makoun, Curtis Davies……..
      need I go on?

      • Exactly. Like this would be, a complete and utter waste of money. He will stroll for 2 seasons then go to the USA just like all the other 34 year old somethings. Had enough of the leaches at the Villa

        • Envy is a very unattractive trait.

Anyway let’s see what the season brings ….. and wonder if J Cole will join the exodus to the USA too.

BTW Lescott is 31 – ergo in 2 years he will be 33.

      • you can only name a few bad buys where anyone who comes to the baggies is a poor buy and your going back some years with the likes of balaban just keep telling yourself your better than villa when your yo-yoing up and down between divisions anelka and the other strikers you bought this season who are that bad I cant even remember there names then sold long who was scoring freely at his new club says something to me

        • So memorable and so bad that you can’t even remember their names??!!

Oh dear, how you must be paining that Lescott didn’t sign – someone most Villa fans sincerely wanted. Still you do have Senderos!!

I see sentence construction and grammar not your strong point.
